Project Description
Rae Ann Hamlin’s passion for music began at a young age and she quickly blossomed not just as a musician, but as a teacher. By the age of 15 she was a member of the Accordion Ambassadors and began teaching piano lessons. When the studio she taught for closed, she started her own studio, Hamlin Music Academy, at the age of 18.
While teaching she earned her BA at the College of St. Scholastica in Piano Performance/Pedagogy.
Rae Ann has been a member of the Music Teachers’ National Association (MTNA) since 1993 and a pianist and organist for St. Francis Xavier since 1996. She is a piano instructor for the music department at St. Scholastica and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM). In 2003, she was nominated for the University of Minnesota Center for Economic Development’s Micro Entrepreneur LABO Award. She has serviced as the Arrowhead Music Teachers’ Association (AMTA) president and is vice-president of the Duluth Music Teachers’ Association (DMTA).
Rae Ann also believes in serving her community and has been a member of the West Duluth Business Club since 1995, having also served on its board of directors. She has been active on the Spirit Valley Days Committee and a member of the Spirit Valley Citizens Neighborhood Development Association (SVCNDA) since 2002 and has served as a SVCNDA board member. Her passion for music and her community is evident to everyone who meets her.
