2017 Board of Directors
Note Worthy Kids in Duluth is pleased to announce the following 2017 board of directors. Doug Maguire has been elected president, making Randy Lee past-president. Other board members include: RaeAnn Hamlin, vice-president; Amy Swensen, secretary and Gerald Salveson, treasurer.
Doug Maguire is a lifelong musician, performer, composer, and teacher with over fifty years of experience. He also owns and operates Computer Man of Duluth, LLC.
RaeAnn Hamlin has a BA at the College of St. Scholastica in Piano Performance/Pedagogy, is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) and is the owner of Hamlin Music Academy (HMA). In addition to teaching lessons at HMA, she is a pianist and organist for St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior, WI and performs at numerous events throughout the year. She is a member of the Music Teachers’ National Association and has served as the Arrowhead Music Teachers’ Association president and is vice-president of the Duluth Music Teachers’ Association. She also owns Hamlin Music, a talent agency that provides entertainers for a variety of public and private events.
Amy Swensen was born and raised in Duluth, is a former bassoon player with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. She has a background in law enforcement and currently advocates for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She is a mother of 5, who all share in her love of fine music.
Gerald Salveson grew up in Duluth where he attended UMD and DAVTI and works at Hamlin Music Academy in Duluth. Jerry loves to sing and currently sings with his church choir and the Downbeats.
Randy Lee has is a longtime Hermantown, MN music teacher. He also freelances as a musician/bandleader and is active across the state and region. He holds and has held, local, state, and national offices in music education organizations (including terms as Secretary and President of the American School Band Directors’ Assoc.). He has a Bachelor of Music-Education degree from UMD and a Master’s degree from UWS. He is the Founder, Artistic Director, and a featured woodwind soloist of the Big Time Jazz Orchestra, a 501©3, tax-exempt, non-profit organization
Note Worthy Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides need-based financial scholarships to qualifying families in the Twin Ports area to provide free or reduced-cost private music education, instrument rental and repair for children (18 and younger).
